If you are looking for inspirations for concept art, check out Feng Zhu Design and his awesome, endless list of portfolio. I came across his artworks about March this year and it's a fantastic place to learn about color value, perspective, composition, and tips about working in the industry of entertainment design. I wanted to go for a one year program at his newly opened school in Singapore but too bad don't have the money for it. Still, his digital paintings and sketches are just so inspiring they suck me inside the moment I look at them. It's like a new realm, and it wasn't surprising, because he has been responsible for the concept art in Tron, Star Wars episode III, Transformers and many other great titles in the entertainment industry.
So I figured, why not apply and learn a thing or two from his comprehensive blog, and infuse some color into my boring hometown? The results are shown below, with a reimagined Lake Toba, a rocket-equipped rickshaw, and spirit concert from the Indonesian folklore. Done in Photoshop CS4 with Wacom Intuos 4
